About FIRST Alumni Network at Grand Valley
Who We Are
FANGV was established in October, 2018. Its goal; strengthen the culture of STEM for Grand Valley community for current and future students. Composition of FANGV will vary, but its core was formed of FIRST Alumni. Together, we help establish West Michigan as a powerhouse for innovation and promote STEM culture worldwide.

Our mission (see below) is comprised of outreach, events, and projects. These are all tools to refine both soft and technical skills for participants, and also support growth of similar groups in the area.
Event
We stoke the fire. Whether filling volunteer roles, putting on events, or performing group community service; we make it happen. This ranges from team mentorship, competition roles, and workshops to fundraisers, networking, and exterior groups. We support these events to encourage growth of STEM culture, provide new opportunities, and see youth inspired.
Project
We burn the house down. Learning targets for participants are important to interior growth, and are acquired firsthand. Projects' intent lies in gaining or honing different technical skills to make something special happen. Our Robot in Three Days among other developed tools and resources for partners fall into this category.
Outreach
We set the fire. We take a stake in our community. We spread the culture and word of FIRST in many ways, by helping others to see its strength. We meet with school administrators, ambassador at events, and help community teams or underprivileged groups to be better off than before. It is these ideas, cooperation, and communication with surrounding communities that makes us stronger.
